Today, we saved a life.
At Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) in Tucson, we found a timid soul named Adora, a dog on the urgent placement list, one step away from being added to the euthanasia roster. We renamed her Freeda, symbolizing the fresh start she so desperately deserved.
According to the handlers, Freeda had been marked “orange”, a designation given to dogs struggling with human interaction; fearful, reactive, and difficult to handle. She kept her tail tucked, refusing to make eye contact, withdrawing from any attempt to connect.
We knew earning her trust would take time. For hours, we simply existed in her space, letting her take us in at her own pace, allowing her to decide when she was ready. Little by little, she began to acknowledge us. It wasn’t smooth sailing, but we were sailing nonetheless.
When the moment came, we gently guided her into the car, capturing that emotional milestone on video. She was no longer just another shelter statistic; she was ours, and she was safe.
At home, we’ve created a peaceful retreat for Freeda—a quiet room, nature sounds playing softly, a comforting presence always nearby. She may still keep her distance, but she watches when we leave the room, her expression filled with curiosity, wondering when we will return. That flicker of interest gives us hope.
We introduced her to our other dogs, but she seemed overwhelmed, so we’ve given her the space she needs to adjust at her own pace. This is her journey, and we are here to walk it with her.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more updates, videos, and moments of transformation, because Freeda’s story has only just begun. Stay tuned for her Tale of Triumph.

A few weeks ago, we received a call from a gentleman in Northwest Tucson. He had just come across a lone, disoriented dog stumbling through a Walmart parking lot. She was dusty, thirsty, and clearly hungry, her fragile frame telling a story of hardship.
Unfortunately, the man wasn’t prepared to take her in and wasn’t sure what to do next. It was late at night, and every local shelter had already closed. After searching for options, he found us on Google and saw what we stand for: available 24/7 to assist any animal in need.
Without hesitation, we rushed to meet him. Sure enough, there she was—uncertain, vulnerable, but still holding on to hope. After looking her over, it was clear she was a Husky-mix. We thanked the man, who wished to remain anonymous, and brought her home to a fresh start.
With a bath, a warm meal, and hours of careful introductions to our pack, she slowly settled in. She’s now scheduled for her second vet appointment, where she’ll be microchipped—one more step toward ensuring she’ll always be safe.
We may adopt her out one day, but it’s not our priority. If this is her forever home, so be it. She has come such a long way in such a short time, and no matter where she ends up, she will always be a part of our family.
Stay tuned for updates—because her journey has only just begun.
Today, a life was saved.
At Pima Animal Care Center (PACC), we met Tia, a beautiful soul who had run out of time. She was on the euthanasia list, her fate sealed unless something changed. We couldn’t let that happen.
We pleaded with the shelter to give her just a little more time, time to find the family she deserved. After reviewing their census, they agreed. That small window of opportunity made all the difference.
And thank goodness it did.
With the extra time, Tia found her way to a loving family who stepped in, saw her worth, and gave her the forever home she had been waiting for.
To the incredible people who adopted her—you are heroes. Because of you, Tia’s story didn’t end at the shelter. It’s just beginning.
Thank you for believing in second chances.
